What a treat this was, Terri. My ancestors come from Sligo, so I humbly thank you for this pilgrimage. That was quite the storm you had - maybe the Callieach peeking around the corner! I hope your ankle feels better soon. Stay cozy!

Such a lovely video and much needed for me today. These ancient places hold so much energy and it’s wonderful to visit them and feel so connected to our ancestors. We know so little about them yet I think the mystery is what makes it even more special. At the same time we know that they were just people like us with the same emotions and going through the same human experience. I always find it very comforting to know that so many others came before us and that we are all part of this earth journey together.

That was a fabulous film Terri, I loved it. The Cairns are amazing. I do not think we have any in this neck of the woods. Well done , keep up the good work

Thanks Mick. There are remains around here but not as impressive and of course there are lots of things in the landscape that we don't recognise. Hope you are keeping well xx

Absolutely mystical and lovely. The music was sad and reverent and lovely with your recounting of the stories. πŸ‡

Thrilled that you enjoyed the music as Lol just composed that piece for this video and that is exactly how he wanted it to be felt xx

This was so beautiful to watch. I visit West kennet long barrow every year for an ancestral pilgrimage and the presence of the past, the memory of ancient folk and the land's own memory feel so powerful there. Thankyou so much for sharing your pilgrimage with us. I am so interested in the ancient past.

Sounds beautiful. Is that just yourself or a group of people? xx

Myself, my husband and my daughter. I tend to stay in the longbarrow a bit longer and then follow them back down. There is a beautiful spring called Swallowhead spring in the same area, just a few minutes walk from the barrow

Oh, how extraordinarily beautiful and magical. I enjoyed it very much.

We recently visited Knocknashee (it really is just round the corner from us), but Carrowkeel looks even more stunning. I've put it on my (long) list of places I want to visit.

I'm so glad I live here now, amongst these ancient, magical places. Thank you for bringing these 2 places to my attention :)

I really loved this video walking around the cairns with you. The music just added to the atmosphere. I hope everything was okay in the storm. See you next week.

Oh I'm in love. And you're very nice too Terri :-).

Stunning footage. Authentic. And what you said about the stones..."actually look hand carved even"...was very interesting. Thanks for the fascinating information.

You've now piqued my interest. 30 years ago during my trips to as many "megalithic tombs" as I could, I visited one place which was basically a footprint of a monastery. There was a tiny village nearby - a pub and a shop only, both closed, name gone.

But what has triggered this memory is there was a church on a hill above; dilapidated, in complete ruins is my memory. But every single headstone on the many graves had my surname on it (probably not everyone, maybe 99%). I guessed it was a bad sign for whoever's graves they were; but no one to ask.

Now I want to know where it was. And I've just discovered the potentially very dangerous website https://www.megalithicireland.com/.

For some reason my memory is I was staying in Kilkenny at the time. So I'll start there.
