The Power of Flowers

27
7

I do love plants. I also love flowers. I love their healing power and I also love their beautiful aesthetics that bring so much joy and uplift to our senses. When we see them, when we smell them and when we touch their velvety petals. Some flowers are used in teas and tinctures for healing physical ailments - think Chamomile and Rose, Honeysuckle (Woodbine) and Calendula for example; but all flowers can also be applied to healing our mential and emotional issues. I make lots of different types of medicine including flower essences, which can be vey potent; and now I am going to try something new.

I have just taken delivery of a copper alembic for distilling floral and plant waters. I am intending to make Lavender water and I will use lemons to make a citrus water - to begin with, as an experiment. I am also planning to make waters or distillations of other healing plants too, not necessarily all flowers.. With this type of alembic still, I can make both water and steam distillations so it will be interesting to see how these compare. Flower and plant distillations are so gentle and so subtle that they are suitable for everyone

Flowers are so beautiful and are such powerful healers on many levels and you will find mention of them in my coursesat the The Hawthorn Academy Here is a link to my website where you can find my Flower Essences and The Weed handbooks Shop I hope you will appreciate flowers a little more after this video. Their beauty is so uplifting but we tend to think of them as just things that are pretty rather than as potent healers.

If you are in Ireland, I will be presenting a talk about Plant Healing at The Yoga Picnic at Lilliput House in county Westmeath on Saturday 5th July and if you are going to the Picnic, come along and say hi.

I will be at Studio Feasa in county Clare on 26th and 27th of July with a weekend workshop to celebrate Lughnasadh. This will be a wonderful weekend of celebrating, crafting, journeying to the Other Realms, songs and poetry and other activities as well as really great food. A chance to connect with our ancestors and to reconnect with our natural heritage and customs. Join us for this lovely celebration.
