Happy Solstice, happy season of joy and light returning! I love the wandering camera, focusing on the various symbols of the season in and outside of your cozy home. When I see the holly and the ivy, it always takes my mind straight to that old song. Here in the western U. S., ivy is an invasive species, so I wonder; does it originate in Ireland or the UK? And thanks too for the reminder for us all to rest during the time of the dark cycle. I think it may be partly why so many suffer from S.A.D. during this time. I feel if folks would but remember we are meant to lie low, take it easy, stop all the busy-ness of the sunny seasons, perhaps the dark time would be more appreciated. So many lights, screens and sounds to distract us, or give the false impression of light (though not in the sky), we don't understand why we don't have any energy, why we aren't just "up and at 'em" like the rest of the year. It is because it is our time to rest up and regenerate, if only we just allow it and don't fuss about fewer hours of daylight and less energy! Your tree ornaments remind me of many of mine...
Fortunately, there is more medical evidence suddenly regarding the benefits of light and rest and living by our circadian rythms. Dr. Mercola just has a book about it and an American woman called Carrie B also promotes this. xx Happy 2025
It has been a wonderful year. Listening to your talk at the Gardens was so fun. The boat trip with your beautiful daughter was great. Every week there is a happy surprise. There is no room for me to travel but you take me to the most wonderful places. The walks to Wells and forests is such a treat. Lol's photo skills are of the highest quality. I am so blessed to have found you and enjoyed you and your content for years that have flown by. Sub stack is a great new addition. Be safe and happy all the new year. Bless Lol's mother for this coming year. XXXX
Happy Solstice!! Thank you so much for all your wisdom & offerings - it has brought much light to the rainy, dreary winters of the Canadian west coast. Looking forward to hearing more of your garden projects this coming year.

Yes, that's true! I feel grateful for those who do the work and help remind us all of these things through their writings etc., like yourself, for instance!

Thanks so much - I try. I can't do it all the time but I think it is the most important thing we can do. Blessings for 2025 xx
