Thanks for the instruction on how to make salve. In this case dandelion. I usually get salve from friends, in trade for things I make or do. I want to ask you if you dry the dandelion flowers first? I recently made a batch of calendula oil, or tried to. I used mostly dried petals, but perhaps added in some that were not completely dry? And I did not add any alcohol (vodka). But my oil got moldy! The petals were completely covered in the oil, too. I guess I need to get some vodka to use for things like this. I love how you describe the dandelions as "beautiful golden flowers" - which they are! But the humble dandelion so often vilified. A very useful book on many "weeds", like dandelions, is called "The Wild Wisdom of Weeds" 13 Essential Plants for Human Survival, by Katrina Blair. Full of many uses of common so-called weeds that are found the world over. Thistle, yellow dock, lamb's quarters, chickweed, etc. etc. Plus I had to look up Lol's hand condition, more learning there. We loved the wild weather and green lush landscape of your home place. Here we're in the dry season, grass all crunchy and brittle, so it was so refreshing to see wild Ireland. And as always the camera work (Lol, thank you) and darling pets.
Thanks for posting this question, Anne. I'd be curious to know why the oil got moldy as well. It's never happened to me, but what if it did? I look forward to Terri's response.
Dande-lion, a dandy lion of an herb. But in inclement weather, let's not forget the healthy, healing heat generating benefits of doing an old Irish jig.
Love to see the slow motion run and play. My dogs are still grieving for their bright spot pack mate so Not seeing any running or playing yet.
I did not know Dandelion was good for my swollen hurting hands. I think I will make this next year. I do not have many dandelions although they are welcome. Terrie is such a bight spot in my life.
Home visiting vet is coming to treat one of my dogs for back pain that started when Essie's back broke. They were best friends so I think it is emotional so cool laser therapy or needling will start and we can stop the awful medical pills.

Thanks a million for sharing your herb knowledge yet again Terri.
