Years ago, about a quarter of a century ago, I noticed weeds growing in the gravel of the driveway. I tried pulling them out but no matter how long I spent, the driveway looked no different. Then my uncle mentioned weed killer and I thought “Brilliant! I’ll get some”. (This was in the days when I was ignorant of such things and was only just adjusting to country life.) I went off to the local shop and was about to buy some when I suddenly thought to myself, this is a killing agent, what else will this kill? Do I really want to kill things? I decided NO, I did not want to spray chemical products that killed plants and possibly other creatures too. I decided I would learn to live with the “weeds” growing in the gravel if I couldn’t pull them all out.
