To the Powerful and Privileged - Please just Butt Out!
I was born into a poor but creative family. I have always prided myself in finding creative ways to make my own versions of things I couldn’t have. For example, when I was about six or so I really wanted a dolls’ pram, I did get one later, when I was about eight, but at six it just wasn’t happening - so I invented my own version. This was a small cardboard box with a piece of string through the narrow end so that I could pull my “pram” along. I put covers and blankets in the box so that the doll would be comfortable and away I went, delighted with myself for not only resolving a problem but for coming up with something unique that no-one else had.
