Calendula officinalis - Pot Marigold - is not to be confused with African or French Marigolds which are in the Tagetes family. Pot Marigold, Calendula officinalis, is a wonderful herb that can help a woman throughout her life. Calendula helps us all in many ways and is one of the very best herbs for skin care and can work for you internally and topically.
Calendula can help us from top to toe, working on every body system from eyes to liver, to skin, to the digestive system, circulatory system, muscular and skeletal system, the female reproductive system and even gums. Calendula can stop bleeding if you have a wound and can relieve bruises and sprains. Calendula is antiseptic, promotes tissue repair and minimises scar formation which is what I found after a severe burn. I don’t have a scar and cannot tell you now which foot was damaged.
Calendula is excellent for children - treating worms in the bowel and fungal infections as well as being diaphoretic so useful with eruptive illness such as chicken pox or measles, as Calendula eliminates toxins.
I could write for hours so I urge you to do your own research and discover Calendula for yourself. This is one of those plants that you would be foolish to overlook and should be included in every herb garden.
